STUDENTS' SPEECHES

Students' Speeches: List

ANUSHA'S SPEECH:

Good morning to my teachers, fellow Havilians and honourable guests, thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak today on behalf of the Class of 2020 for Year 6. It is truly an honour.

From Year 1 to Year 6, many different teachers have been supporting me throughout my journey in Havil. I appreciate every single one of them since they are the reason for my success today.

In my first year, I found it hard to adapt since I didn’t know anyone or anything. Soon enough, I began to love my first year teacher, Ms. Senaka. She was an open-minded person who loved making crafts and had engaging lessons using many interesting things. She helped to stabilize my studies from Year 1 until Year 2.

Year 3 came around and Ms. Lily supported me and taught me a whole lot of English grammar, not forgetting parts of speech. She is firm, energetic and smart. In Year 4, the kind and trusty teacher, Ms. Koay. I believe that she was a great teacher because she was kind and loved her lessons as well as her students. In Year 5 and 6, I met the best teachers I have ever had: Ms Stephanie and Ms. Jessica! Ms. Stephanie was firm, strong and smart while Ms Jessica was a lovely, understandable teacher, these two teachers remind me of sisters as their teamwork in caring for the class is evident.

During the past 6 years in Havil, I have had the best teachers ever! Havil selects the kindest, smartest teachers of all the time. Some other teachers my peers want to appreciate is Ms. Met, for turning them into an artist from a scribbler. Lastly, Ms, Phoebe for being a kind and enthusiastic teacher. Good job, Primary teachers! I will miss you all.

Next, I would like to highlight the school programs. All these 6 years in Havil has made me realise that I have such innovative and great minds around me especially during Havil school events! I would like to thank Ms. Priscilla for organising them, with the Havil team of teachers and administrative staff. Just when I think that a recent Havil event has been the best yet, the next event comes and sweeps me off my feet. Two of my favourite events were the Lemonade drive during Love brickfields and Honours Day 2019. Personally, I don’t know where these ideas come from because I would not have been able to think of such engaging yet wholesome events!

I love you Havil. You are the best school I could have ever wished for. I will keep our memories deep down in my heart.

Thank you.

VIGNESH'S SPEECH:

Dear parents, teachers and students,

It is an honour to be chosen for this speech on behalf of the graduating class of year 6. We have had a great journey after all these years in Primary School.

My name is Vighnesh and now, I am going to present my journey throughout Havil thus far.

It seems to me that we were all very mischievous in primary. Incidents and arguments were very common too but most of them were irrelevant and no matter how many times a person says that “I am not going to be your friend” at one point, they become friends again. We made many mistakes, but we still learnt from it. It was so fun in a way that nobody would have ever thought it would be.

I clearly remember that the most memorable moments during Sports Day was when we all worked together, in our teams. My fellow Havilians, I am talking about you! In each respective house, we were trying our very best to win, my Red House included. In the end, we were able to achieve it! We won, Red house! Everyone was so happy in a way that I can’t explain. We will never forget those special days. In memory of that, I would like to thank the members of the house of Courage. Thank you all.

Next, I would also like to thank all the primary teachers for putting in all the effort and hard work in educating us all these years. To our lovely parents, for their support and care, thank you very much too.

My goals for year 7 is to become a better person and get ready to explore new challenges and subjects that await me.

Lastly, my closing advice for students in Year 5 and below: I would like to say that if you want to succeed or achieve in something, you must focus on it. You need to know every detail of the target that you have and aspire to achieve; do this by giving your 100% of time and attention to it.

Thank you for listening.
