MESSAGES FROM MR PHAN

 Homeroom, Math and Add Math

ARYANN

Aryann, just want to tell you that your consistent effort and participation in my class have encouraged me and kept me moving forward from time to time. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. By the way, don’t ever say that you’re fat. It hurts me :D

BARON

Yo, Baron boss, thank you for being a source of joy always in the class. I hope that you will experience true joy and peace moving forward no matter what circumstances are to come.

BRANDEN

Hi Branden, I could remember (if not I'm not wrong) that in my first class you said your ambition is to be a great spouse/partner or some thing like that? Tell you what, that’s a very great goal and I hope you could keep working towards that. But all in all, live not to impress but to impact. 加油!

HANNAH

Hello Hannah, you the first student I met the morning I had my first homeroom period with the Year 11's. Thank you for being so supportive and attentive during the classes, and giving your best in whatever you do. I know you’d go a great distance with these great qualities. Enjoy the journey moving forward :)

ZHAO YUN

Hello Zhao Yun, I never told you how encouraging it was to see you putting in effort in my subject and trying your best despite struggling from time to time. It reminded me to give my best too when I’m at my lowest point. We don’t need to be perfect, I mean, we can’t be. But we can definitely try our best and improve. I hope that you’ll be cheerful as always and have fun in whatever you’re going to do.

EMILY

Hello, Emily-the-emoji-girl, thanks for being so supportive and attentive in my class; helping with the class record book when Baron wasn’t available. :D I wish you all the best in your future. Should you pursue your dreams in art, use your art to make positive impacts on other people. We all could use some uplifting images nowadays. ╰(*°▽°*)╯

SEE WEI

Hi See Wei, you are the student to whom I’d like to personally award my 'Professional Student Award'. :D Thanks for being so attentive during my classes no matter how good or bad they were and always going that extra mile to ask questions and strive for the best. In whatever you’re going to do in the future, all the best; you can do it!

REEMA

Reema, it’s been great being your teacher. I wish you all the best in your future, and that you find what you really love doing. A quiet soul can bring significant changes to the world.

SARA

Sara, you are that student who shows persistence in asking questions and you wouldn’t stop until you get your answers. I admire that about you. All the best in your future endeavors.

SHIRLENE

Shirlene, I admire your spirit and boldness you have shown especially when you have something to stand for. And I believe you’ll be a great advocate for what you think is right. All the best in what you’re going to achieve.

STELLA

Stella, it’s been my pleasure teaching you and seeing you being part of the class. I hope you find joy and achievement in whatever you do moving forward.

SEAN

Hi Sean! You are the genius in everything mathematical. It’s been my pleasure teaching you (or more like repeating what you’ve already known). :D You definitely have a great knack for math. If that’s your passion, pursue it and make great impacts while being humble and willing to learn what’s to come! All the best!

ZHI YANG

Hi Zhi Yang, the class boss, thanks so much for helping me with all the class matters all this while and putting in effort in your studies. You’re always calm and supportive, and I have that feeling that you’ll be a great man as you age, like any good wine. All the best in your future!

MR PHAN'S SPEECH

Good morning, my Year 11 students. It’s your graduation day today and I’m very honoured to be given this opportunity to speak here on your special day. It’s really unimaginable how time has passed so quickly. I could still remember my first time entering your class, when we played a small interviewing game to know each other better. And now, here we are.

With this chance given, I would like to congratulate you on your graduation. This is a milestone in your lives which you should be proud of. I guess you could be having a mix of feelings right now. Maybe you are feeling heavy to leave the school? Or feeling a sense of accomplishment after what you’ve gone through? Or even feeling relieved after all those struggles you had over the past one and a half years. All in all, do remember these feelings, you’ll miss it one day.

On this special occasion, I’d really like to encourage you to show your gratitude to your parents, your family and whoever supported you throughout your journey. Just say, “thank you” and give them a hug! Like right now, if they’re just next to you! Your parents sending you to school and giving you a chance to receive education is no small feat at all. Given that not everyone in this world has the same chance as us to receive education, I think it’s only right for us to show our gratitude to our parents and make the most of what we’re given to make them proud.

As you already know, I’m definitely not good with spoken words and definitely not very much older than you to give you some serious life advice. So, I’ll only conclude my speech with my own experience, “There will be times when life gets miserable, when we do not know who we are or who we are going to be and when we wonder what we are going to do next. But don’t worry, that’s perfectly fine. We have to take one step at a time. Just like the trial and error method you learnt in math or science. When applied in life, it’s known as trial and improvement because no mistake is an error if it helps us to improve to become a better person. Hence, let’s just do our best with what we have in our own time. Do not compare with other people, do not live to impress, but stay true to your values and live to impact. Do not stop learning, and all the best in your future!” Thank you.
