Favourite Event in Havil 🏫:

My favourite event at Havil has to be the Science Fair held on the 25th of February 2020, in the courtyard of our school.

The participants' groups ranged from Year 1 to 10. Most of them were creative and outstanding, especially the device designed to read aloud to the blind by the Year 6, called, ‘the Omega’.

There were other experiments such as "Black Snake", "Elephant Toothpaste" and "Lava Lamp", all of which were quite eye-catching.

Initially, I thought the event would be unsuccessful and boring when it was first announced, but it proved to be an engaging and fun event for all ages. I'm glad I was proven wrong!

Shout Out ✊:

I would like to appreciate my loving parents who have always been there at school events to support me, as well as keeping me grounded when necessary.

I would also like to thank Ms Priscilla for being an inspirational mentor and role model to me.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to Ms Lydia who has cared for me academically and personally since she started in Havil.

SPEECH WRITE UP

Hello and good afternoon to everyone! I am Sara-Ann. I hope you are all well and healthy during this Covid pandemic. Firstly, I want to thank all my friends and express my appreciation to all the teachers who have made my four years in Havil truly memorable. All of you have left a deep imprint on me which I feel has helped to enrich and made me a better person.

Some of the best memories I have in Havil include watching the seniors and students in my year perform and dance during the special assemblies such as Chinese New Year, Christmas, or International Day. It never failed to amaze me and was one of the highlights of those assemblies. Also, the times that we spent chatting and sharing our thoughts and aspirations together.

I believe one of the most important traits in a person is confidence. Without confidence, we cannot face our fears and stand up to them. When all else fails, trust and believe in yourself to succeed at any given task. Failing does not equal a failure; giving up before trying will make you a failure. So, clear all doubts from your head and remember the next time you face a challenge, instead of thinking, “Can I do it?”, try “I must do my best”. This will give you the confidence to overcome difficulties in life and even if we fail, we fail knowing that we have tried our best and more importantly, we must learn from our failures.

From today onwards, all of us will be starting a new chapter in our lives. With the guidance and education Havil has given us, I believe all of us can make a difference and contribute to society, one way or another. I hope we will always cherish the good times that we have experienced together which are priceless. I know that I will always remember all of you in a special place in my heart and I hope that this feeling is mutual.

I will end my speech now with a quote to ponder on, by Christopher Paolini:
Live in the present, remember the past, and fear not the future, for it doesn’t exist and never shall. There is only now.  Thank you.
